First Annual Capital Cupcake Camp

Capital Cupcake CampWho would have thought that today would the first annual Capital Cupcake Camp be a success.
Even with the rain people came just get a sweet tooth fix.
Got there very early and was surprised by the line up for the bakers.
Snap some shots of various cupcakes.
When the event started, I didn’t know the room filled up with alot of people.
Various ages, kids, teenagers, parents and the elderly.
This was an event for everyone.
Capital Cupcake Camp
Didn’t get to chaotic which was good thing.
Still amazes me that 3000 cupcakes were entered.
After the fifth batch I was terribly full.
At least I bought some tupperware to save the nice ones for home.
Or if I can’t eat any.
It was hard to pick which was my favorite because I like anything that is chocolate.

The one I didn’t like was the meatloaf cupcake.
As in actual meat in it.
They used potato as icing but it had a jam in the centre.
Unique but abit weird to eat it.

Congrats to Nicole LeDrew who help made this event a success.
Also those volunteers who made this possible.

Even with the rainy day, people came in droves to eat some cupcakes and have a good time.
Nice to meet new people since my friends didn’t want to go.

Review: RiP – A Remix Manifesto @ Mayfair Theatre

I decided to go to the Mayfair Theatre (which I haven’t been to in ages) to check out RiP: A Remix Manifesto.
Its about the remix culture and copyright issues in today’s society.

I liked it but not really sure paying the $9 was worth it since you can go on the website and see the documentary for free.
Or probably shown on CBC’s Hot Docs or the Documentary channel.
(Its my opinion and don’t take it too seriously and take it as a grain of salt. So don’t rip my head off)

I liked that there was some parts of Girl Talk’s music featured.
Would be cool if people were dancing to the music while watching it.

Very informative and fun to watch it.
Makes you think about the ramifications when dealing with the big media corporations.
Kind of scary about it too.

Forgot who it was that showed for the Q&A but it wasn’t the director.

Favorite parts was clips of Radiohead of Nude and other In Rainbow tracks.
This Youtube clip which I finally get to hear what the original song sounded like before “Bittersweet Symphony”.
If you want to see it on the big screen than go ahead.
But for those strap for cash just check it out at the NFB’s website.

Dear CTV.

Dear CTV.
We know that the Winter Olympics in Vancouver is 1 year away.
Would you stop showing your stupid Olympics bumpers of each athletes with your stupid cheesy Olympic music before every commercial break?
I’m sorry its really annoying with the repetitive crap they do.
Is it going to make us care about the athletes or more ratings boost with their network?
We get the point. And with troubling times with the economy, we can’t deal with such nonsense with our athletes with they are going to win any medals at this point of time.
Yes its our Canadian pride to win a medal at the Games but now is not a good time.
And if we do then we are going to over expect our athletes and be a repeat of the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing.
Please stop showing those stupid bumpers Ad nauseam.
Also hearing the news awhile ago that Vancouver doesn’t have the money to finish constructing the “Athlete’s Village” says alot with troubled times.
Also people don’t really care about the games since its corruption and maybe people were turned off by the Figure Skating controversy a few years back.
I think CTV should find a better way with nonsense crap.
Look at NBC they haven’t shown any promos of the Winter Olympics. That is because its the USA.
CBC never showed endless promos when they did the Summer Games.
Stop showing them.

Fallen Angels: Missing scenes

I sort of died and gone to heaven.
Fallen Angels by Wong Kar-Wai is one of my favorite HK films by him.
I stumbled onto youtube and found three scenes that were left out of from the film.
I also love the song Only You by Flying Pickets
